Hi Daniel,

I like your idea. For now, there are two ways to achieve what you want:

1. Instead of using Ctrl+Comma to apply the tags, use Ctrl+Alt+(Right) Arrow. This will immediately apply the first tag/tag pair (the list won't be displayed).

2.  In the TM Fields and Settings, uncheck the boxes for Numbers and Acronyms. Those two types of placeables will no longer be shown in the QuickInsert list, but it also means they won't be recognized as placeables.

Using your trick 2. together with the following ahk speeds things up nicely. 

RAlt::
sendinput, ^!{Down}
sleep, 100
sendinput, {Enter}
return

This works because without the numbers, the next tag or tag pair is always at the top of the list. Very helpful. You just position the mouse at the right place/select the appropriate text then hit the hotkey.

Also, I find it is much easier to batch the tags at the end, using the "Segments with tags" filter in CADF.

As an alternative, for a few years now I've been using the script here: https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/f/autohotkey/12964/add-tags-with-a-single-keystroke to insert tags using a single keystroke: the Windows key. No need to uncheck any placeables with this one.
