Edit Google Translate settings in Trados 2015/17

Hello everyone

Google Translate now offers a Premium service, which uses a slightly different URL for the API. The two differences are:

1. Use translate.googleapis.com/ instead of www.googleapis.com/.
2. Add &model=nmt to the URL.

Is there a way in which I can change the URL that Trados 2015/17 currently uses to the one that the Premium service uses?

Thanks
Samuel

  • Hi Nestor,

The source code for MT Enhanced is here:

    github.com/.../MT Enhanced Provider

So anyone who wishes to make the changes to support Google NMT while it is still in Beta is very welcome. In the meantime I know that Studio itself will support this once it is out of Beta and in the appstore team we may make the change if it doesn't move from Beta anytime soon and when we have less to do on other things.

In general we don't like to spend valuable development time working on solutions for products that could change. Google themselves state that the feature might change or be altered and is it's not intended for realtime usage.

So the best solution is do this yourself, or we could help find you a developer who might be willing to help if you pay for this effort. Perhaps, if you find enough people you could share in the cost, it might not be that expensive! But keep in mind that if Google change the feature a few times during the Beta phase then you'll need to redo the app each time too.

    Regards
