Language Cloud Basic - No adaptive engines?

It seems I have run out of characters under the free plan, so I wanted to buy a Basic subscription, as I thought I'd seen on my laptop that the Basic plan includes 2 adaptive engines, but not I'm looking at the plan page on my main computer and there are no adaptive engines listed under the Basic plan, is that right? I also seem to have an inordinately high number of adaptive engines listed under the free plan: 100!

  • I ended up getting the Advanced plan. So now, two more questions:

    1. Can I use the same Language Cloud subscription for two separate Studio licenses? I have Studio Professional on my main computer, and Studio Freelance Plus on my laptop and tablet/laptop hybrid., but can't manage to switch to the Advanced plan I just purchased with my Freelance Plus license. (I think I may have two different Language Cloud accounts but I'm not sure)

    2. Is there a preview available for the contents of the Industry engines?
  • One more follow-up:

Am I seeing things or are the plans offered via the Professional and Freelance Plus versions different?

This is what I see when I access Language cloud from the computer with my Professional license:

And this is what I see with my Freelance Plus version:

  • Hi Nora,
I don't think LC is linked to a Studio version, so it looks as if you have two LC accounts.
FYI, my LC account options are the same as your 2nd screenshot (even though I'm using Studio Professional. )
    Cheers,
    Emma
  • Thank you Emma, I suspect that might be the case and it probably happened during beta testing when I couldn't connect to Language Cloud at all. Now I just need to figure out how to switch accounts on one of my computers. I'm puzzled about the difference in the plans listed, though.
  • Hi Nora

As you have 2 different licence types you can share your Language Cloud subscription using the API details of which you can find here:

    https://languagecloud.sdl.com/translation-toolkit/api-documentation

In regards the Industry engines there are no previews available.  You can always sign up for a plan with one included just for a month to test?

  • Hi Nora,

    Thank you for your questions.

From your screenshots it appears that you have 2 Language Cloud accounts linked to the two Studio versions.

In order to use the same Language Cloud account in both Studio version you would have to switch your Language Cloud account in the Studio version that is not connected to your Advanced Subscription Account. Please note that you can have more than 1 Language Cloud account on one e-mail address and you should select the same account when being prompted to do this in Studio. This only works for Studio 2015 and 2017, multiple accounts selection window.

For this Just go to Project Settings - Select Language Cloud and click on Settings. This is described in the article below from the Language Cloud Knowledge Base:

Also for any other Studio integration setting and issues there is a list of Knowledge Articles available :

The first time you registered for Language Cloud you probably had a 30 Day free Trial that allowed access to 3 Industry Engines.

However this Trial is only available through the MS Office Add-in or in the online Language Cloud Translator.

    See the article below:

For specific issues with your account in the future please log a case with Language Cloud Support from your Language Cloud Account, see this article on how to do this:

    I hope this helps

  • Also you can check what account you are logged with in your Language Cloud:
