I am trying to get an old file from Trados 6.5 into our new system, the SDL Studio 2015. The only file we have is a bilingual file with the extension .bak.
Is there any method for converting this file into an "understandable" format for the SDL 2015 version ?
Hi and thanks for suggestions.
The file is a bilingual file, all of those were called .bak files in the old days. I will attach a screenshot of what the text looks like.
Pray excuse my obvious lack of expertise in this area, but how do you "open it in Studio" ? Anyone care to walk me through the steps, one by one :)
Hi Reynir,
The same way you open any file in Studio. It's catered for with this filetype:
Hi Paul:
In SDL Studio 2021 there is not such a filetype. How can we open Wordfast Classic bilingual files?
Thanks in advance,
You need to install this application:
https://appstore.rws.com/language/app/SDL-Trados-Compatibility-and-Migration-Power-Pack/1101/
Once you do that you'll have the missing filetype, as well as other "old" features you may have missed, back again. Don't forget to make sure it's above your other Word filetypes in the list in your project settings or it won't be used.
Thank you, it's just what we needed. We tried it and it works properly.
