When in review mode, why is auto-propagation of status for unaltered accepted segments not active?

Question

Today I got a set of 4 files, identical for about 90 %, for review. The LSP wanted me to use track changes. 
 The problem is, when reviewing the file, and confirming most segments to Translation approved, that status is not propagated to all identical segments further on. Only segments that need a change and are then automatically approved by hitting Ctrl-Enter, have their status (together with the change) propagated. 
 So I end up with having to re-read and re-approve all unaltered repeated segments - quite a loss of productivity ! 
 Strange enough, when Track changes is switched off (not the default for review) the behaviour is what I would expect - status change for unaltered segments IS propagated 
 Is there anything in my way of working or in the options settings that could change this behaviour?

You've hit the nail on the head: it's due to Track Changes. My suggestion would be to enable track changes for segments that need edits, disable it for segments that don't. What I do is first filter the file on repetitions and keep enabling/disabling track changes depending on whether the segment needs edits or not. Once I'm done with the repetitions, I can leave track changes on, as it won't affect any remaining segments.

Hi Paul, 
Thanks for your suggestions. 
Unfortunately they don't address my stated problems at all. I have just been asked to use Track changes and I am not in a position to argue with the LSP about their ways of working, why they need it, (probably to give the translator the possibility to accept/reject the changes) or whatever. So in working with Track changes I just need to find a workflow that avoids reading and approving identical segments again and again. 
 
I think, however, that I have found a way to handle this using the display filters, while leaving track changes on: 
1. Display First occurrences of Repetitions 
2. Walk through all segments and confirm each segment, after modification or unchanged 
3. When finished in this view, switch filters to Display All Repetitions 
4. Select all segments and change status to Translation approved 
5. Change filter to All segments and finish reviewing the remaining unique segments. 
 
In this way of working, there is no chance of inadvertently changing something with Track changes off, as in the proposal of Nora, and with just a few key strokes I have avoided the repeated reviewing of identical segments.
