Could you let us know which Operating System you are running please and check that the plugins are properly installed in the following folder 

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Packages

Also could you let us know which versions of the app you have installed- you can see this when you open the SDL Plugin Management tool

I'm using Windows 10 Pro. The Studio Subtitling is indeed in the folder you mentioned. As for the version, I'm using 1.1.7.4

Thanks- this might be the issue as we have newer versions of the app available.

Please remove the subtitle app (and file types) and then install the latest versions 

Once installed- reopen Studio and go to FILE OPTIONS -FILE TYPES and click additional file types exist and ensure these are then properly installed.

Now try to create the project using the both the SRT and media file you have.
