Subtitling webinar, 11 March 2020....

Just a heads up that we are running a webinar on the subtitling features in Studio this afternoon:

Audiovisual Translation with SDL Trados Studio

There are a lot of new features in Studio to support this... many of them incorporated as result of the feedback we have seen here.  So if you have time, and are interested, it would be great to see you there.

Cheers

Paul.

  • Hi Paul, thanks for the presentation. Unfortunately, I would have to upgrade to Trados 2019 to use the plugin which I wasn't aware of. Does that mean I have to purchase a whole new Trados, or is there an "upgrade" discount?

Anyway, I wanted to follow up on my question about proxy timecodes as it is about specific cases. Some clients provide videos which have a burned in timecode which does not start at 00:00. Therefore the subtitling file provided would usually match the burn in timecode, e.g. 09:59:59. However, a normal video player would start the video at 00:00:00. Is this the case with Trados? If so, the subtitles in the preview would not be synchronised with the video. Is there any way to fix the start time of the video to match the burn in time code and therefore view the subtitles correctly?

    I hope that's clear,

    Best,

    Elaine

It all depends on the version you are using today.  I recommend you contact our live chat and they can help you with this:

Now I understand you.  In fact we already have an item on our backlog for when we do the next round of development on this plugin, our reference number is SDLCOM-607.  So we will do this, but you can't at the moment.
