The long-awaited Tridion Docs Metrics feature

The long-awaited Tridion Docs Metrics feature

Technical Documentation Leads, Heads of Departments, and Information Architects, do you recognize these situations?

“Recently I had a new release of my Product. I would like to see how good I was in terms of reuse compared to previous ones to understand if I should improve in the next version.” typical Technical Documentation Lead.

“We have been using Tridion Docs for a while. We are close to reviewing the budget for the Tech Doc department for a fiscal year. As a head of the department, I need to provide data showing how much we were saving with Tridion Docs for last year including our release activities.” typical Head of Department.

“I know that one of the technical documentation teams that does support their product set is doing good with reuse activities. I would like to show their ROI data to encourage other departments to invest in improving reuse degree for their products.” typical Information Architect.

“I would like to make sure that all output formats for recent Product releases were moved to the Released state to lock and finalize the release activities.” typical Lead Technical Writer.

With the new Metrics feature, Technical Documentation Leads, Heads of Departments, or Information Architects can now measure content reuse, identify cost savings provided through structured content, and validate team efficiency and productivity by business unit.

New features facilitate easier reporting and analytics, allowing you to:

  • Enjoy out-of-the-box reporting
  • Measure content reuse and provide Return on Investment metrics
  • Identify cost savings provided through structured content
  • Validate team efficiency and productivity by business unit

Topic reuse chart

The topic reuse chart shows your reuse level for a selected period highlighting the amount of new content compared to the content that was reused. It also shows the reuse level on top of the column. Data from the chart helps to drive content reuse programs. For example, Metrics can show your reuse level for product release that was developed and delivered last quarter, based on which, you can decide if you should invest more in content reuse or if numbers meet expectations.

Return on Investment chart

The return on Investment chart shows the value of using Tridion Docs for a selected period based on your reuse level. It shows this value against a baseline of creating content from scratch. The chart shows a trend line for a specified period to indicate cumulative cost savings.

Publishing activity chart

The publishing activity chart shows publishing activity for a selected period indicating the status of published outputs. Publishing activity can give you an overview of outputs per product and their status. This data helps to see teams focus as well as understand how efficiently they are delivering.
