possibility of applying concordance results to the editor.

I'm working on files with a high number of fuzzies. If the system automatically brings up a translation result, there is the possibility of applying that result to the target. But, if I search on a few words from the source (concordance search), the possibility of just applying that result (CTRL-T) is not available. I have to copy-paste the result. Would it be possible to apply the fuzzy result with CTRL-T and then modify it to suit the source?

  • Some 5 years later, in Studio 2021 Ctrl+Alt+F3 is listed as shortcut for the not so aptly named "Insert into document" and it is visible in the context menu of the concordance search but - sadly - it is greyed out if no text is selected.

Screenshot of Trados Studio context menu showing 'Insert into document' option with shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F3, which is greyed out.

  • This does seem buggy because Ctrl+Alt+F3 doesn't seem to work in mine either. It's specified as the proper shortcut in the tool tip, and if I go to settings and try to set Ctrl+Alt+F3 for some other random function the program recognizes the key combination, so it's not a problem of the keyboard.

It would be great if this worked better because often I have to select, copy and paste from the concordance because the TM doesn't automatically recognize matches due to an abundance of Tags.

  • Well, in my 2017 version the Ctrl+Alt+F3 shortcut does nothing. I tried to assign this combination to any empty command in Options - Keyboard Shortcuts, but Trados did not warn me that it has already been assigned to something else, which means this shortcut is not used (in my version). Maybe you have different settings.

Anyway I agree that adding Alt+Number functionality for concordance would be great.

  • Stepan, in Studio 2017 the shortcut for this appears to be Ctrl+Alt+F3. Still, this shortcut could be enhanced to copy the whole unit if no text is selected. Or, using a number (I.e. Alt+1, 2...) in order to select a different TU.

  • The same applies to Trados:

Trados has an easy way of doing that, just select the bit of text that you need from the concordance, click "Insert into document" or use a shortcut for insertion (Ctrl+W).

The idea is to insert the whole concordance search result without selecting a particular part of it. Sometimes it is handy.
