To create a new project in the desktop version of Trados Studio, please do the following:
- Create a new job or project. Important requirement here is that Language pair (or Target languages) must be selected, and Language code of both source and target languages must correspond to language codes used in Trados (en-us, ru-ru, de-de, etc.).
- Switch to the Files tab and upload files for translation into this folder.
- Select SDL > Trados Studio > Create a project in Studio on the toolbar. Project creation window will appear, where you can change default values.
- Check Only generate analysis report and then delete Trados project box if you wish to only count words/characters in files without project creation.
- Select source and target languages.
- On the Files tab, select files you wish to include into a created folder.
- Switch to the Templates tab and select desired project template, if needed.
- Optionally, if project template is not selected, select translation memories and termbases. List of available TMs and TBs is provided in the plugin settings in Studio. Additionally, if you're connected to GroupShare server, you will see list of translation memories from your server matching project languages. You can select translation memories from this list as well, and these TMs will be attached to a created project as server-based TMs.
- When you're ready, click OK. Application will upload files to your local computer, create a project (in a folder specified in the plugin settings), prepare analysis and then display default analysis import window. In case of error message please fix error reason and repeat the process.
