Problems when trying to deactivate my license

When opening SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance Plus a pop-up window warns about an error when trying to recover the license. One of the options is "off-line deactivation" but after trying to generate the certificate I get another error message "Cannot deactivate license". Please I need help with this as I've been struggling several days with this issue.

  • Hello Paul,

It was a package I received and worked with (and was about to create a return pakage). The package/one of the files in the package which I finished editing and saved it, and it was about to be finalized in Trados 2014. But then the issue I explained previously happened and I couldn't access it anymore. I didn't had or created any TM... I was a lot of work and if there are any differences and you say that I would probably need to go over and rework everything (in case the old package format differs...)  - this would be very unfortunate - it sound like now I will both need to pay for the new version and rework the whole thing :(

  • Hello Paul,

Hope you're doing well today. To be honest - I'm not sure what to do at this point as I don't even see any of the old projects "ongoing" projects from Trados 2014, but the most troubling is that even when I try to open the file I worked on directly anew - it opens the initial unedited version... where the changes I made are absent.

Since I didn't receive any further answers on this from the team I imagine SDL doesn't have a solution for this issue.

Please let me know as I need to decide if to start working on this particular file in the project from scratch and inform the client about additional delay.

I appreciate your help. Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Alex

Why not?  Where was the project stored?   Can you open the location in Windows (not Studio) and show us a screenshot of what's in there?

It sounds to me as though you are opening up the sdlppx which of course won't contain any changes.  That is not your project, it's the package you were sent that will be converted to a project when you open it.

I think we've been clear on this.  The solution is in your hands, there is nothing for RWS (there is no SDL anymore) to do here.
