Project TM disabled in Groupshare

Hello, I'm trying to access the TM of a project shared with me via Groupshare, but no matter the project, the TM will appear disabled and grayed out in the TM window, forcing the project manager to send me a local zipped copy. I have Studio 2014 and Windows 10, I've tried with firewall activated and deactivated and I really don't see where the problem could be coming from.

If the TM appears disabled in your project settings, it is either because you don't have online access to it or because the language pair does not match.

I suggest that as first step, you check if you can access the TM by removing it from the project settings and adding it again. This will require you to login to the server and you will see if you can access the server (credentials OK) and if you can see the TM.

You may also try to open the TM from the "Translation Memories" view, once you connected to the GS server, it will automatically show you the TMs that are available and match the language pair of your project.

Should you not be able to login to the GS server, you should contact the responsible person of your client to check why this is the case.

  • Hello Walter,

It seems that I have online access and that the language pair is the right one...more details below:

    - I am connected to the client's server through HTTPS, with the right credentials, and I can access the client's projects.
    - I cannot delete the TM in the project's parameters (all options are grayed out, which means I cannot click on "add server TM" either). In the "all language pairs" section, the TM is grayed out AND disabled. In the En-Fr pair, the TM is activated but still grayed out.
    - In the TM view, no TM is shown by default; when I click on Open > Open server TM and select this TM, I get a message saying "you cannot access this TM for modification" (which is normal because I don't have the authorisations to do so).

I am aware of some issues with Studio 2014 and GS projects (eg. wordcount errors, analysis errors and so on), and the answer was basically "try this workaround [which won't work] or get the 2015 version", I hope this is not the same kind of problem...

If this helps, it's a fresh install of the latest version of Studio 2014 on a W10 (new computer that I bought one month ago).
  • Hi Nicolas,

Have you tried redownloading any of the projects after this started to happen?
Basically, move your existing project folder somewhere as backup and download a fresh copy from Groupshare again and check if the TMs are enabled again in the project settings.

I've seen this happen when the internet connection drops while you are using Trados.
It automatically disables the TMs. The problem is it does not reenable them even after your internet connection is restored requiring you to download the project again from the server.
