Trados Analyze not working, error 500, "service is not available"

Hi there,

As this app would be a really helpful resource, I've tried installing and running it several times over the past year or so.

Unfortunately, it has never worked. I consistently get the error message "Trados Analyse service is not available, please make sure the service is running".

I have just tried uninstalling it completely (both from within Trados Studio and via the "Apps & features" settings page in Windows 10 Pro 64 bit) and reinstalling the latest version available in the AppStore, but with no success.

I am running Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.9.18688

Is there a fix for my scenario? Perhaps some remnant of an earlier version I need to manually delete?

Thanks,

Andrew

That app is one that has historically always given us a hard time to keep compatible so without even questioning your post I just double checked.
Using Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.9.18688 with app 5.2.0.64 I have it working error free.
I tried it both as the local instance outside of Trados Studio, as well as in client.

Could it be that you have an older version installed?
I would remove your current install and try again

    Looking forward to your findings

  • Hi Lyds,

I'm definitely running version 5.2.0.64 of the app. I removed it entirely from my computer, restarted the computer then dowloaded and installed it all over again this morning (before submitting my post).

I have a vague recollection of seeing something in the AppStore weekly digest at some point that suggested manually deleting some kind of folder that is usually left over from previous installations of Trados Studio, but I've looked and can't find the relevant post anywhere.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Perhaps you can check manually and remove the app from these 3 locations:

    %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

  • Hi Oana,

Success! Thanks very much! I uninstalled Trados Anallyze again then went through those folders and found some rogue Trados Analyze folders and files. After manually deleting them and then reinstalling, it all seems to be working as it should. Thank you!

  • Hello,

I did all the steps suggested and nothing solved my issue. Here is what's happening:

I have downloaded and installed the following components:

    1. TradosStudio2022SR2_17.2.11.19134.exe

    2. Trados.Analyse.Installer.2022 (SR2) 5.2.0.64.msi

When running Trados Analyse, we encounter the following error: "Trados Analyse service is not available, please make sure the service is running."

Upon checking, the service shows as running. However, after restarting the service and attempting to run an analysis, we receive this error message: "Please make sure that the Trados Analyse services runs under your user account or that you run at least once Trados Studio 2021 with the latest updates under that user."

I have tried changing the logon of the service to the current user and restarting the service, but the same message is displayed again.

I have also uninstalled, deleted the folders as referenced above, reinstalled and the issue remains the same.

My system runs Windows 11 version 24H2.

Could you please provide assistance on how to resolve this issue? Any guidance or steps to troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

I'm having the same problem as  described after recently updating to the latest version of Studio 2022.

I've installed the latest version of Trados Analyse:

Properties window showing details of Trados Analyse application with file version 5.2.0.64.

I'm using the most recent version of SDL Studio 2022:

About window of Trados Studio 2022 SR2 showing version 17.2.11.19134.

But, whenever I try to analyse a file I get this message:
Error message stating 'Trados Analyse service is not available, please make sure the service is running.'

The service is running in the Task Manager

Task Manager processes tab showing Trados Analyse Service 2022 is running.

I followed all the possible suggestions presented above but without any result.

My system runs Windows 10 Pro version 22H2.

Any help would be appreciated as this is one of the most used add-ons on my daily tasks.

    Have a great day!

  • Hello,

Considering this thread is 10 months old and few answers were provided to solve this issue, let me share with you an alternative to the Trados Analyse add-on.

Searching the RWS AppStore I came up with Go Analyse. This is a 100% free "add-on for Trados Studio which allows you to perform an analysis of individual, multiple, or even zipped files without having to open them in Trados Studio. You can also assign prices to the different match rates and thereby calculate the translation costs at the same time."

I've installed and tested it and does what it promises quite simply. You might need a few more clicks than Trados Analyse but it works without bugs with SDL Studio Pro 2022 SR2.

After installation, Go Analyze will run for 30 days as a trial version with all features enabled. After that, you can either continue working with the free Basic version or purchase the Professional version.
In the free Basic version, you can only use one translation memory at a time. Apart from that, the Basic version is unlimited in terms of features and time.

    Hope this helps.

    Have a great day!
