Urgent - MultiTerm no longer working AND can't integrate Termbanks into projects

I need help with MultiTerm 2014, please.

It worked fine until last week. Since then, I can't integrate Termbases (file-based) into a project. It keeps telling me that I either don't have the rights or that the Termbank is no longer available.

When I try to open MultiTerm to view the file there, it won't even start.

Before that happened, I transfered my whole Studio 2014, MultiTerm and Passolo over to a new PC and got the licenses activated. However, Studio 2014 didn't work on that PC at all. I deinstalled it all. I now know why 2014 didn't work, but have the Starter Version of 2017 on that new PC now and it's working now and I've just downloaded MultiTerm 2014 again. I can open it (yay), but I get the same error message when I try to access the Termbase that is on my PC.

However, the Termbases show as integrated in the project pack I am current working on when I open the project in Studio 2017.

 

Does anybody have the slightest idea where the issue is and how I can resolve it?

    I expect Paul has clocked off (in fact I hope he has, as he works too hard [;)]) but I'm still here working away on a long proofreading job and saw your post...

    Firstly, to find out if you have the most recent versions of MultiTerm and Studio, you click on 'About SDL Trados Studio' on the Help tab here:

    Then do the same for MultiTerm by opening MultiTerm.

    As Paul indicated, the most recent versions are:

    SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4435.12
    SDL MultiTerm 2014 SP2 - 11.2.1379.0

    If the About pane that opens in each case isn't the same as the above, you can trigger updates by clicking 'Check for Updates' in each case.

    After you do the above, then it would be a good idea to run what we call a 'Windows Repair' on the main components of the SDL Trados software. A 'Windows Repair' in this context doesn't mean repairing the Windows operating system itself. It means using Windows to repair a piece of software that is installed on it. Software can become affected by changes in other software around it, usually triggered by the regular automatic updates that Windows runs.

    Here are the instructions for finding the Control Panel and running a 'Windows Repair' on the main components of MultiTerm 2014 and Studio 2014 in Windows 7:

    1. On the Windows desktop screen, click the Start button.

    2. Click Control Panel on the right-hand side of the Start Menu.

    3. Double left-click Programs and Features from the categories that appear.

    4. Click once to highlight SDL Trados MultiTerm 2014 Desktop then click Repair 

    It will take a few minutes. When it has finished, repeat the above with first SDL Trados MultiTerm 2014 Core and then SDL Trados Studio 2014 which will take the longest of all.

    I hope that these explanations help. Once you have done all the above you just may find that your termbase works as you wish. It's a bit like flushing out the system... ;-)
