It sounds as though you might have set up your termbase to work with specific language pairs, so en-GB instead of just en for example.  You'll never notice this when working in MultiTerm but in Studio these differences are important.  Can you show a screenshot of your termbase settings in Trados Studio so we can see the langauges?  Are they both actually recognised in your project?

Great... how did you resolve it?

The problem was in the project settings in Studio where the subgroup of the target language was different from the Multiterm target language in the termbase.

Everything is working well now.

Sometimes I think it's better to only work with a termbase containing the main languages and then use an attribute for the variants if they are important.  For examploe... in case it's still helpful:
