Partial export from MultiTerm to Excel

Dear Community!

I´ve read a lot about how to export MDB to an Excel file, but still...my task is very specific:

export all Spanish terms, all synonyms, if any, inside of the cell, separated either by a comma or by a vertical bar.

I would even prefer:

export all Spanish terms with their synonyms and English terms with their synonyms, two columns, Excel format.

I want no categories, no definitions, no indication wthether it is forbidden or not, no pictures. Ignore all the fields, just the terms.

Is is possible using Multiterm Converter? I´ve tried different ways, but an error always appears....

Very grateful in advance!

    MDB?  Sounds old :-)

Is is possible using Multiterm Converter?

If you mean the Glossary Converter then yes, it is.

  • Paul!!!

Look what I ´ve got!!! I do not have those languages in my TDB! We only have 7!!!

Screenshot of a social media conversation where Yulia Kovalskaya asks about exporting MDB to an Excel file and if it's possible using MultiTerm Converter. Paul confirms it's possible with the Glossary Converter.

    How come?

Is the window I enter after dropping the database to the converter ok???

I think you are looking at the list of fields that you have come across since working with the converter... not the list of languages supported.  Try clicking on "Idioma..." and you'll see all the available languages.

  • This is realy weird, Paul:

Screenshot of MultiTerm software showing a list of languages on the left, format options in the middle, and language field settings on the right with 'Campos' highlighted in green.

This is what I see when I click on "Languages". However, at the end of the list (right-side window), I see the real fields and pick-lists I have cfreated.

And this is the definition of out TDB:

Screenshot of MultiTerm software displaying database statistics including total entries, multimedia objects, and language coverage percentages with a green progress bar.

Ok, I will just choose to ignore the "weird" stuff....

Why is it weird?  You are not looking at the definition of your termbase... you are looking at every available language supported by the Glossary Converter and every field (what was in your spreadsheet) since you started using it.

Maybe you need to click on "Reset" to start afresh, and/or check this box so you always see the fields that will be picked up when you drag and drop your termbase into the UI.

Screenshot of MultiTerm software settings with Formats category selected, showing options for Spreadsheet, TBX, Termbase, SDLTMTMX, XML, and others. A red arrow points to the 'Reset' button. Options for 'Always show field definition dialog' and UI Language selection are visible.

  • The result looks different from yours....

Screenshot of MultiTerm software showing a table with multiple columns for different languages such as Arabic, Danish, German, Spanish, English, French, and Russian. Despite the intention to display only French, Spanish, and English, all language columns are visible. Some text in Arabic is present but not transliterated.

I "switched off" all languages, leaving only French , Spanish and Eng + Definitions....but, defintions are not shown and ALL language columns appear. Will repeat the process. Sure i did something wrong.
