How can I change the source text formatting to client specified formatting in target segment?

Dear Studio 2017 users,

This is the issue I experienced when working in a recent project where the client wants to use plain text in target language for italic text in source language.

I thought it would be an easy task, but it turns out to be an impossible task in Studio and I ended up leaving a note for the client to make the change during DTP.

Is there a way to do this within Studio that I wasn't aware of?

Thank you so much for your advice!

Thank you again for this solution!! I didn't know there is a way to display the external formatting tags (by using All Content). There was only one segment that requires this (the others were formatted by internal tags so no problem for those segments).

Keep in mind however that this is only good for files formatted as your example file.  Try this one:

This is another test using styles.docx

Here I removed your text, modified the underlying style and then added the text back in again.  If the italic is controlled this way then you have the situation Jerzy described and the only resolution is to deal with it in the source, or in the target file.

It helps to try and understand how tags get into the files in the first place because then you'll have a better understanding of how to deal with them.  Studio just reports what it sees.

    Regards
