Studio 2017 System.OutOfMemoryException for PPT file

When I try "save as" I get this message and the target file is not saved. In explorer view when clicking once on the file that I managed to save once (don't know why I can't now) I see a message "cannot preview the file due to an error on microsoft PPT previewer".

Is this an issue with Studio or with PowerPoint? How can I solve it?

  • Hello ,

That's a very interesting one. I can't reproduce this so it must be something with your file, but when I open PPT files the setting is always Auto-Select and not UTF-8. Very strange that UTF-7 worked though. All I know about this encoding is that it was created to provide a more foolproof way of sending files via email, but I don't think it's used very much anymore. Can you share the file?

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

I have been doing some testing. I am now able to save target with the UTF-8 no idea how that evolved, but I suspect that maybe it's an Office related problem. Last night I performed an error check on MSFT Office (Control Panel/Change/Quick Fix AND Online Fix) and nothing happened right away. I didn't reboot my pc and this morning somehow the situation "resolved itself".

I am at a loss as to how any of these problems solve themselves sometimes. I'm not a computer geek, but also not a total moron when it comes to IT, but really?

Thanks for your input, I wasn't actually expecting any help on this, but it was nice to know someone is on the "other side".

    Good day to you!
