General Massive Catastrophic System Failure

Hello,

Sorry about sending a messed up question a minute ago.

I got the following messages and symptoms:

General Massive Catastrophic System Failure

Dependency file not found (paraphrasing)

Control+Z key won't work

Export for Bilingual Review not available after translating several segments of a 6000 segment document. (Too soon?)

I did the following:

Installed/reinstalled Studio SR-3 and Multiterm SR-2.

Renamed Settings XML file in Program Data

Updated Windows10

Confirmed Trados set to automatic updates

Shutdown/restarted computer multiple times.

Other translators working on the same project have opened some of the same files with no problem and have not experienced this problem in general.

I don't really need the termbase for this because I'm working on completely different subject matter.

I am mostly concerned about the potential for losing work and not being able to export for bilingual review.

Thank you.

Regards,

Ken Wagner

  • Paul,
    Thank you for your reply.

    I have
    Trados 2015 SR-3
    Multiterm 2015 SR-2.

I searched the KB before posting my question. The KB suggested the ideas of updating Trados and Windows and renaming the Settings file in Program Data.
I'm somewhat baffled by the other suggestions in the KB like changing permissions and dealing with dozens of lines of programming. I can't seem to find anything straight forward about changing permissions.

    Newly discovered symptoms:
"No reference to the project is known" displayed on exiting.
Concordance search produces a notification that there's not TM, even though the TM from other documents (not my own translations) works when translating.
Also won't save a copy of the Trados file to another location (the keystrokes F A Y).

Sorry for not providing the right information.

    Regards,

    Ken Wagner
