General Massive Catastrophic System Failure

Hello,

Sorry about sending a messed up question a minute ago.

I got the following messages and symptoms:

General Massive Catastrophic System Failure

Dependency file not found (paraphrasing)

Control+Z key won't work

Export for Bilingual Review not available after translating several segments of a 6000 segment document. (Too soon?)

I did the following:

Installed/reinstalled Studio SR-3 and Multiterm SR-2.

Renamed Settings XML file in Program Data

Updated Windows10

Confirmed Trados set to automatic updates

Shutdown/restarted computer multiple times.

Other translators working on the same project have opened some of the same files with no problem and have not experienced this problem in general.

I don't really need the termbase for this because I'm working on completely different subject matter.

I am mostly concerned about the potential for losing work and not being able to export for bilingual review.

Thank you.

Regards,

  • Hi Kendrick Wagner (KendrickWagner) ,

On the versions it looks as though you may be up to date but please check you have these:

    SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR3 - 12.3.5281.10
    SDL MultiTerm 2015 SR2 - 12.2.1657.4

The second error is looking as though you do have a permissions problem which would suggest this article could be helpful:

    gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge

You could try reinstalling Studio and MultiTerm as administrator. So right-click on the installer and run as administrator, maybe also try running the application as admin, right-click and use run as administrator.

If you can't sort this out yourself then log a support case. For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing

    You have two options:

    1. Submit a case using a webform
    2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.

    Regards

    Paul
