The process cannot access the file ... because it is being used by another process!

SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.6413.8
During the past 2 weeks, when trying to open files for translation I often get the message:

The process cannot access the file ... because it is being used by another process

If I try a few times, it eventually opens

If I try and open multiple files (say 10) at a time I always get the message.

The issue does not go away after shutting Studio, it does not go away after reboot/shutdown, and it happens on all projects from many different customers

HELP!

  • Hi ,

We saw a similar issue yesterday that may have been caused by either an AV update or a Windows update, she wasn't sure. But she resolved it by changing a setting in her AV, Avast. I suggest that if you can't solve this yourself that you log a case.

For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

    gateway.sdl.com/liveagentlicensing

    You have two options:

    1. Submit a case using a webform
    2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.

    Regards

    Paul
