Is there a way to capture positional tabs in a segmentation rule?

I noticed that Studio 2017 differentiates between normal tabs and "positional tabs", which are AFAIK are normal tabs with additional properties (see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/documentformat.openxml.wordprocessing.positionaltab.aspx).

Apparently they are not captured by a Tab rule (eg. .\t+.). Can they be captured? How?

  • Hi ,

Thank you for the file... I see your problem now and it's because these "special" tabs are treated as tags and not as simple text formatting which you could segment on. They hold additional information related to their position, as you initially noted, Studio needs to handle this as a tag. So you will not be able to segment on them at all. There seems to be a good argument for asking Studio to segment them as you would probably only see them in places where the text is not inline anyway.

I'll log this with the support team for investigation and let you know what the outcome is.

Thank you for sharing the file, that was interesting for me. I have not come across these before... at least I've never noticed them as being anything more than just tags to handle.
