HELP: Translating mixed-source language files

Hi everybody, I need help, I cannot figure out, how to set AnyTM for translating mixed-source language files (it is a first for me).

I followed everything I found on the help file of Studio https://docs.sdl.com/LiveContent/content/en-US/SDL%20Trados%20Studio%20Help-v4/GUID-1C72CF89-FDEE-4B76-B420-C08D486B3223

My problem is here:

  • 3. Select the Lookup and Update checkboxes of all the TMs. This will ensure that all the TMs will be updated (but only with the segments in the matching source language).
  • 4. Select OK to save your settings.
  • 5. Go to the Advanced tab, and select Mixed-source language translation to activate mixed-source language editing for this project.

On step 4, after clicking OK "Project Settings" is closed.

WHERE is this Advanced tab mentioned in Step 5 to select Mixed-source language translation? Even if I reopen project settings I cannot find any Advanced tab.

Obviously I am doing something wrong.

Can somebody help me?

Thank you and regards

Angelo

  • Hi Angelo,

You have to confirm manually for AnyTM to store the translation to the correct language pair TM, with the file open.

If you use the 'Update main translation memories' batch task to confirm all segments in one go, it will update ALL segments to ALL TMs.

I guess you could try a workaround with the batch task by selecting just the TM for a specific language pair, having previously marked all segments in that language pair with a specific segment status, such as Draft, then select only that status to update in the batch TM update Wizard. That would be more work than simply confirming the segments individually.

I think it's pretty amazing that it confirms to the correct TM anyway!
All the best and buon appetito!
    Ali
