Hi,
I need to change the initial 5 languages of Studio 2019. Is there any way to do it without uninstalling Studio?
I tried repairing Studio but it always starts as usual, without asking for the languages.
Kind regards
Sandor

Hello Ioannis Tsoucas ,
SDL offer 2 distinct version of Studio- Freelance and Professional with quite clear price differentials based on the varying levels of functionality.
For the vast majority of (Freelance) users, five languagues have proven in the past to be more than sufficient.
Of course if you are having issues with changing the languages, then you are ebntitled to free licensing and installtion support-
https://oos.sdl.com/asp/products/ssl/account/mysupport.aspx
Our support team will then take a look at what is the issue and help resolve this.

Hi
Oops, sorry I typed over the top of you...

Hi Alison Field-
No not at all. The more the merrier.
I do find it amusing we post quite often at the very same time.
In regards to editing the registry- This is something I would only suggest to very experienced Windows users as the consequences of getting something wrong- could be catastrophic!

Hi
Absolutely, I agree on all counts!
Indeed, registry editing is very risky unless you know what you're doing and one should NEVER guess. Also, I've just added the instruction to back the registry up first...
Thanks!

Hi Alison,
I tried to repair Trados 2019 to reinstall my languages: I don't think I have ever chosen these languages. They include apart from my four relevant language pairs, also BISLAMA, about which I had never heard before and the infinite varieties of SPANISH, which I definitely don't want, for a TOTAL OF SIX LANGUAGES that I don't want.
I have the Freelancer edition of Trados 2019 and am NOT interested in more languages than my own.
Repairing the Trados installation didn't work.
Can I ask Support to help?
Please advise.
Best regards,
Sandra
I was about to reply to a question from you on this thread and the question disappeared. Maybe you found the answer you needed. In case not, the answer to your question is yes.
You can contact Installation Help if you're having trouble with installing your 5 languages. Here's where:
Fill out the form, explain your problem, tick 'Installation' at the Case Type dropdown and give them an accurate email address to contact you on and they can access your computer to change that setting for you.
All the best,
Ali
Thanks, Alison,
I thought my problem had been lost in this very long thread, and I was going to post it again in the forum.
Thank you for the advice! That's exactly what I need!
I will follow it right now.
Best regards,
Sandra
Excellent! They shouldn't take long to get back to you.
Have a super Saturday and a wonderful weekend,
Ali
Hi Alison,
This seems really useful. But before I try this (to check it out and also actually to change one of my languages) I wonder if you could tell me:
1. Is it ONLY the language selection that is changed? I ask because I have a large number of plugins installed and would like to avoid re-installing them (even if that is fairly easy doing it via the Studio folders). Also of course I'd like to keep the list of projects as it is.
2. If something goes wrong, can that be rectified by simply re-naming the old LDSRClient5 name so that it is "activated" again during restart?
Best regards,
Mats
Hi Mats,
Sorry, have been so busy I didn't notice you'd replied to me on this thread. TBH I don't know for sure that this will only change the 5 languages without having to reinstall plugins. The best person to ask this question is probably Paul
I am pretty certain that renaming the old LDSRClient5 name will take things back to the way they were before the change.
Hoping this helps!
All the best
Ali
