Automatic Text wrapping

Hello!

I'm new to using Trados Studio 2019 and I have a problem with my source text which I don't know how to fix. The text has been wrapped automatically and I'd like to have separate segments. The target file (.docx) keeps the wrapping and I need it separate as the original version.

Could anyone help me undo the text wrapping, please?

Trados Studio interface showing wrapped text in the source column with segments incorrectly split, causing formatting issues in the target .docx file.

I have tried the filters selecting "Al content" but it still keeps text wrapping and leaves some segments in blank.

Close-up of Trados Studio interface with wrapped source text and blank segments in the target column, indicating a problem with text segmentation.

I'd appreciate your help!

Thanks,

Wilma

  • As they weren't visible in the source file, I thought SDL Trados had wrapped the text somehow and that it could be possible to fix it with the tool.

One of the "benefits" of a CAT is that you see all the controls that are normally invisible in Word other than you see the effect they have.  This is important because you need to be able to put them where required.  But essentially the basic idea is that what comes in is what goes out.  So if you have something in the source you don't like then it's often better to fix the source prior to translation.  You can do it afterwards, and you may have to make changes afterwards anyway since the text can expand/contract around your controls in the target file as a result of translating so some DTP work may always be necessary.
