You're using the French quotes QuickInsert, which is preset to have the necessary spaces. You can create your own custom QuickInserts, with any characteristics you'd like.

You will need to close and then reopen your file to see the new QuickInsert element in the ribbon.

Thank You Nora and Paul! I will try harder... because honestly, the layout customization is not very confortable ... it will take an entire day to do a full custom bar ... by the way ... Nora, do You know why I do not have Word 2019 in my settings (which I do see in your screenshot)?

I have build this but ... Then I do not see it cause I have different word files maybe ...

I have a PDF project open too, I will try to do a custom char-list for that kind of files and I will see ... But it really takes time ... Hope the 2021 version will have this improvement too ... I Love Customizations, to be honest!

Yes, it does take time, so why would you even do it?  It makes some sense for some things like tag pairs (although AHK will manage this as well), and you only have one of those in your list.  But for placeables there are much better ways to handle it that will work across all filetypes.

What's more if you have any problems with Studio and need to do a reset (it happens!) you'll need to repeat the process for each filetype, or at the very least import the customised filetypes if you are backing them up?  Please do back them up!

Regarding the filetype, have you updated your Studio to the latest CU? Go to Help - Check for Updates.

I agree with Paul: creating QuickInserts for what you have shown in your list might not be a good investment of your time, as they are bound to each filetype and you can easily get those characters in other ways.  If you love customizations (as do I), then my suggestion would be to use AutoHotkey instead for this specific need. An AutoHotkey script will work across all filetypes and is easy to grow and customize.

For example, you could type the letters qt (or any letter combination of your choosing) and have the quotation pair be inserted and move the cursor inside the quotation mark pair, or type the letters num and have that be changed to N.º.

I'm attaching a script with these two hotstrings to get you started, along with instructions on how to use it.Autohotkey script.zip
