Studio 2019 update error

I am unable to update my version of studio 2019. I am receiving the below update error:

Trados Studio update error message stating 'HTTP operation failed. Could not open the destination file for writing. HTTP status code 200. Windows Internet API error code 32. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.' with an OK button.

  • If you are having problems with autoupdate not being able to connect there is a log that may be useful in c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\Updates\UpdateLog.txt

If you can share the log it might help identify the problem.

You could also simply take the latest build from here.

    1. Close SDL Trados Studio 2019
    2. Download the ZIP file SDLTradosStudio2019_SR2_CU7_2849.zip from our FTP site (Username: sdlpatches, password: 5dlpatch35).
    3. The ZIP file contains an .exe file. Extract this file to a temporary folder of your choice, such as C:\temp. This .exe file applies to all editions of SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR2.
    4. Double-click the .exe file. This will install the latest release and replace as well as update the files in the SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR2 installation folder as appropriate.

  • Thanks and @paul for your suggestions

I tried Paul's suggestion of downloading the latest update.

Unfortunately, the download was incredibly slow - I believe this has something to do with me accessing the download from China.

As my inability to update was causing compatibility issues across MultiTerm and Studio I decided to try and re-install the entire package via my original download link (I am using a temporary student licence given to me by my lecturer). I have now run into problems with this download as well! I have started a new thread for this.

    Thanks again for your help
