Mouse wheel double-click deactivated by Studio 2021?

I have a problem with my mouse wheel that seems to be caused by working in SDL Trados Studio 2021.

I have configured the scroll wheel click on my Logitech mouse to be equivalent to a left double-click. It has always worked in all Windows applications.

However, since installing Studio just over a week ago, the double-click functionality has become "patchy". It never seems to work in Studio, and occasionally it stops working in other applications too if I've been using Studio. It usually works in Windows File Explorer, but will not do so if the File Explorer window has been opened within Studio as part of an open/save file dialogue.

Am I alone in this?

(I dislike the fact that I cannot select text using the mouse click operations that are standard across other applications such as Word, but that's a different matter.)

  • Hello ,

Have you perhaps tried using a different mouse (in a different port) or if its Wireless- disconnecting and then reconnecting?

As you mention its 'patchy' then this could indicate there is a conflict somewhere with shortcuts between various programs.

If you set the mouse to its default settings, do the problems persist, or is it only when you use the scroll to double click?

    Hi Steven.

    Thanks for your reply.

It's a Logitech wireless mouse, and has been 100% reliable thus far. The problem persists after system restarts, so I can't think that disconnecting then reconnecting will make any difference. I have, however, reinstalled the driver software to ensure that my version is completely up to date. The problem persists.

I suppose there could be a conflict in the shortcuts. It's only been a problem since Studio was installed, which is why I'm tempted to lay the blame at Studio's door. However, I can't find any mouse-specific shortcuts within the Studio options. Any pointers (excuse the pun) as to where they would be?

If I set the mouse to its default settings, I remove the setting to perform a double-click with the scroll wheel. In that respect, I suppose it makes it work without a problem, but it's not really a solution!
