I'm working on a single document project with a word file, using SDL Trados Studio 2021 SR1 16.1.4.4184
I can't confirm any segments and save as an xliff-file. If I press "ctl" and "return", the programme immediately closes and an error message appears, saying "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" .
I have looked through the forum but could not find a solution that worked for me yet, so would very much appreciate any help!

This is the most annoying error that seems to pop up unpredictably without any pattern and has existed ever since the launch of Trados 2009. I suppose it has been reported thousands of times since then but it hasn't been fixed because no-one is able to reliably reproduce it.
I experience it at least 5 or 6 times since the start of the year and if rebooting the computer and restarting Trados doesn't help, then the case can be so severe that the translation becomes inaccessible and in bad cases may require recreating the project from scratch.

Thank you for this comment! That doesn't sound very good though...
I seem to have been lucky as the problem already accured right at the beginning of the document and there was no time pressure.
