I am receiving two copies of each Community notification

Hi

Please ask someone to turn off the second copy of each Community notification I am receiving.

I would say which email address needs to be turned off, but I prefer not to include it in a public forum.

I sent you detailed information, including the email address in question, in a private message, but that was 3 days ago and you have not responded there either.

I didn't think this was going to be such a problem.

But it has been 4 days and I am starting to think the support team is overwhelmed.

A response would be appreciated, any response, either to the private message, this topic or the previous topic (which now appears to be blocked to new posts),

  • The place to ask for this would be in the community help, and not in the Trados Studio technical forum.  Steve is also on leave... so allow me to try and help.

You have two users in the community for some reason which you can see if you type @brucecam...

This is probably the cause of the problem.  If I look in the admin section I see you also have posts from both:

Two user profiles for Bruce Campbell in Trados Studio community. Top profile: BruceCampbell32032, 25 posts. Bottom profile: BruceCampbell, 399 posts.

The email addresses have the same domain, but your name is bruce in one and bcampbell in the other.  Which one would you like to keep and I'll merge them into one.  I think that will probably fix it.  Bruce had the most posts ;-)

  • Thank you Paul, problem solved.

By the way, I tried typing "@Paul Filken" to alert you to this post, but Community did not show a "hit" to choose your name.

I just tried "@Steven Whale" and Community popped up a hit, so the problem does not appear to be at my end ...

  • I’ afraid it is ;-)  Try pfilkin ;-)

  • The @mention mechanism works so that when you type space, it does not work any longer. You could find "@Steven Whale" because his name pops up as soon as you type the first word (given name). Once you type space, the popup list disappears. Sometimes you can type name and surname as one word: BruceCampbell, StepanKonev, but it does not always work. If a nickname does not follow the pattern NameSurname, you won't be able to find that person. For example, you can't find @PaulFilkin because Paul's nickname is pfilkin.

  • Thanks!

My mistake. Given that Paul is only shown as "Paul", I tried @Paul, thinking that he might be important enough to pop up with just that :-)

When that didn't work I guessed his last name from memory and misspelled it with an "e" instead of an "i" (as you can see in my post above).

So I tried @Paul Filken and @PaulFilken (without a space), but as you mention Stepan, neither would have worked anyway, even if I had spelled it correctly.

Nice to know that Paul is using pfilkin. (Who would, or could, have known?)

Anyhow, I was just surprised and thought I would mention it this time, as I thought it should be easy to contact someone as important as Paul.

In the past I have generally just given up when faced with a list of people not even close to the one I was trying to find (trying both with a space and without).

I was actually surprised that it worked right away with Steven.

I guess this is all documented somewhere -- or not.

Seems a bit disorganized, but I don't post enough to make it important enough to worry about :-)
