I am receiving two copies of each Community notification

Hi

Please ask someone to turn off the second copy of each Community notification I am receiving.

I would say which email address needs to be turned off, but I prefer not to include it in a public forum.

I sent you detailed information, including the email address in question, in a private message, but that was 3 days ago and you have not responded there either.

I didn't think this was going to be such a problem.

But it has been 4 days and I am starting to think the support team is overwhelmed.

A response would be appreciated, any response, either to the private message, this topic or the previous topic (which now appears to be blocked to new posts),

  • Thanks

I appreciate that you tried to help :-)

I wish copying and pasting the name from the personal page worked, but since I didn't receive a notification of mention for your previous post either (the one you appear to have deleted), I guess we can conclude that it doesn't work, or doesn't work reliably.

The idea of sending notification of mentions is a good one.

Too bad the implementation of the concept appears to fail at achieving the intended purpose.

Or maybe it does work, and we just don't know how to use it reliably.

Anyway, as I mentioned above, I don't post enough to worry about this too much.

At least now I know how to notify Paul and Steven if I urgently have to so for some reason.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi ,

Thanks to your suggestion to check a user's personal page, I found the solution for sending notifications of mention to users :-)

Although you can't copy and paste the user's name from the personal page as you suggested, you can see the user's "signin name" (that is what it is called in your account settings) at the end of the webpage address for the user's personal page.

For example, if I right-click your name or picture above and open a new webpage showing your personal page, the webpage address is:

    "community.sdl.com/members/stepankonev"

The "stepankonev" at the end of the webpage address is the "signin name" in your account settings.

Unfortunately, it looks like you can't copy and paste the signin name after a "@" sign, you actually have to manually type it.

You could, however, copy and paste the signin name into your message (so it is easier to see while manually typing), manually type the signin name after a "@" sign, and then delete the signin name you copied and pasted.

So when I asked in a previous post "Who would, or could have known" that I would need to type "pfilken" for Paul Filken, the answer is:

Simply go to Paul Filken's personal page and you will see that his "signin name" is shown as "pfilkin" at the end of the webpage address. Use this to send him a notification of mention.
