Although this might seem minor or not important, it caught my attention because I'm used to shortcuts instead of manually selecting with mouse.
When I try to select any given line of text in the search box (Ctrl+A), unlike in Trados 2017, it won't do anything. I know I can do it with Shift + left/right arrow, but I'm more used to using the other shortcut.
Is this a bug or an intended change in Trados 2021?

Not a problem at all as it maybe that your 2017 shortcuts have been customised.
These can be addressed in 2021 by going to File - Options - Keyboard Shortcuts

Hey, Lydia. I've never customized any shortcut options in Trados 2017, and this particular shortcut is the same in Trados 2021. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: I can't select any full line of text or complete phrases (instead of individual words) in the Trados 2021 search box with the Ctrl+A shortcut , whereas I can in Trados 2017, for some reason. I assume this is a bug or either an intended change, which is what I want to confirm and, in that case, report it so it can be corrected. Could you try doing this in your version of Trados (which I assume it's 2021?)? Thanks for replying to my post!

Have you got Windows in other language than English?
If so, could you try the localized shortcut to select all, like CTRL+E for Spanish and let us know the outcome?
Hola, Jesús. No, my system is configured to English. I don't think this would make a difference since this shortcut DOES work in Editor mode and in segments, as usual, just not in the search box field, whereas it does work in Trados 2017.
Could you try this yourself in your Trados, which I assume is 2021?

I can reproduce this in 2019 and 2021, so looks like the change came in 2019. I think there is a clash between this and the Ctrl+A that is used to select all text in the target segment you are in because if you remove, or change, that keyboard shortcut from here:
Then it all works fine. Probably not helpful given you most likely use Ctrl+A in the target segment to select text too, but at least that helps to identify the issue. There were some changes in 2019 around wide ranging selections, being able to select all segments for example, so perhaps things got changed there... not sure.
I would be interested in your usecase for selecting text to copy from this search window? Seems a rather unusual thing to do given you normally put text in there, not take it out. I imagine this issue went relatively undetected for this reason, so I am interested to know why you do it?

Hello, Paul. Thanks for the reply. Indeed, that helps to identify the issue. It's just that I'm used to using the shortcut to select everything in the search field for deleting the whole thing and then search for a particular term or phrase by typing it, so it's easier using the Select all shortcut that the Shift + left/arrow one.
It appears, for some reason, whenever the search box is open, the Crtl+A shortcut still only applies to the currently selected segment or any part of the project instead of the open and active search box field, which should be the focus, if that makes sense.
Would it be possible to escalate this to the dev team? For me, while not a serious issue, it is sort of an annoyance, since I have to rely on a longer alternative to do that I want, which is to select everything in one go.

Of course. I don't think the priority will be very high, but it may be something simple once they look at it and then it could get delivered in an upcoming release.

My experience is different:
CTRL+A works fine in Trados Studio 2019: in the Editor and in the Find & Replace dialog box.
If I change the shortcut to CTRL+W, this shortcut works in the Editor, but not in the Find & Replace dialog box, and interestingly enough, CTRL+A works now in the Find & Replace dialog box. That's why I assumed it was the localized shortcut to Select All.
If I reset the shortcut to CTRL+A everything works as expected in Target segment and F&R dialog box.
Of course, I closed all the AutoHotkey scrips before testing.
