The file cannot be opened as it contains languages that are not configured for this installation

Suddenly I can't use the trados.
I get the following message
The file cannot be opened as it contains languages that are not configured for this installation
I have checked and set the languages I work with and have worked with so far.
I deactivated Trados and installed it again.
The Same error.
I checked, I have my 2 languages set. When reinstalling it did not ask me again to add the 5 standard languages.

I tried all the solutions found on the internet, without success

What can I do to function normally, as before?

Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks kindly for your help, the above problem has been solved.
I still have a problem with the following message:
You have set up different translation memories or automated translation providers for certain language pairs
Is not activated the option: Using Different Translation Provider and still the above message appears

Trados doesn't recognize segments already translated, I have a standard document that I have translated dozens of times, and it doesn't recognize the segments.
Again, I have read and applied everything I found in the community Slight smile

  • Hello, again

I checked the language pair in project settings and I have the language pair English Romanian instead of Polish Romanian. I cannot change the language pair, the option is not active.
    Can someone help me? Please
When I open a new document, I don't have the option to choose the language pair, but the document is loaded directly into trados. And the memory is not open, obviously it is a memory for Polish Romanian not English Romanian.

  • Please post a screenshot or describe detailed how do you open a document in Studio.

  • File --> Translate single document or drag and drop file

Trados Studio interface with File menu open showing options including 'Translate Single Document' highlighted.

in Project settings the language pairs must be Polish Romanian not English Romanian.

Trados Studio project settings window with language pair set to English (United States) - Romanian, indicating incorrect language pair selection.Trados Studio interface with File menu open, identical to the first image, no changes observed.

  • What is the file name extension of the file you are trying to open? If you do not see the file name extension, go to Windows Explorer, select the View menu and click  the checkbox "Show file name extensions". Then tell me exactly what the file name extension is.

  • Upload in Trados, as usual pdf or word documents
I can't explain these errors, without having changed some options myself

  • For PDF or Word Studio will certainly show a language dialog, as the automatic language pair recognition is not possible there. For me it looks like would you either be opening a sdlxliff file (or a xlf file) or just going to the Files view in Studio and opening a file from there.

You can set up Studio to suggest you a most used language pair. To do so, go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Languages and chose the language pair you use the most.

And again, please give me the exact file name extension of the file you are opening and not seeing the languages dialog.

  • I have set the language pair Polish-Romanian exactly as File -> Options -> Editor -> Languages and it works now.
Although, it still left the message : You have configured different translation memories or machine translation providers for certain language pairs

The uploaded file has the pdf extension, as shown in the screenshot

I can work now, although I have that message :)

Wielkie dzięki za pomoc i cierpliwość!

  • Looks better now. However, when you already started your translation, you do not need to open the source file again. Just go to projects view, select the project containing the file you started to translate and open this file from the files view WITHIN Studio.

As for the different translation memories: are you using Studio 2021 in the most recent version with all updates?

  • I am using Trados 2019, no update

Yes, I know I can continue the translation by reopening the project. That's fine.

  • The message in question about different TMs will not appear in Studio 2021, as this small bug has been resolved there. This means it is time to upgrade.
