Depending on the filetype this could be possible... but perhaps an easier way to tackle this would be to simply filter out these segments in the Editor View so they are the only ones you see?  It's not easy to give you a more concrete answer without a sample of the file in the format it's delivered to you.

Exactly my thoughts. You can either prepare the file accordingly, for example use the hidden text attribute in Word or hiding rows in Excel, or you can use embedded content processing or—most probably the simplest and fastest method—filter such segments out in Studio. Depends really on the structure, how good it could be matched by regex or simple text.

Thank you both for replying! File format is .txt, but I can copy and paste the text in MS Word, if necessary. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a sample text because it is all about proprietary information that I cannot share, but I have tried filtering out the segments and it worked like a charm. Thank you very much for the idea!

It's not necessary, it was just a question that could influence the way you tackle the problem.  In this case TM segmentation rules might have been an option, but the display filter is certainly easier.

Just for the future.  We don't care about the text... only the structure so we don't need the actual file you are translating.  So you could have fabricated something like this:
