trados studio 2021 stop working with .pptx file

I'm using Trados Studio 2021 Freelance SR2 - 16.2.9....

I'm trying to translate a .pptx file, and everything goes well until the very last moment before the document is opened in the Editor, then Studio just shuts down, closes without any error message.
Already tried several things like: Reinstall it, Update it to 16.2.10..., Fix it, etc. etc. Nothing works. Any idea? I have a job to get done! I need to work! THX

  • Hello Lara,

Thank you for reaching out to the RWS Community.

Please note that this side of the Community is for help related to the platform only, not the products themselves.

This means that your thread should be in another side of the Community - the Trados Studio one.

I would move the thread for you, but I first need you to please go and join that group to be able to have the permission to participate in that space.

The way to do that is by going on the top navigation menu and select the Trados Studio menu.

Once you're there, please click on the red bar at the bottom of the page that says "Click here to join [Group name] to be able to participate and post into the forums", like in the example below.

Let me know after you've finished doing that and I will gladly move the thread for you, so you can get the necessary help from the experts in there.

    Thank you for your cooperation,

    Georgiana

  • I'd suggest you try a reset , then recreate your project, see if the same things occurs.  To do this just close Trados Studio and then rename this folder:

    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\

    to c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16_old\

Finally restart Trados Studio and try again.

If the same problem occurs can you try repairing the PPTX in MS Powerpoint, or maybe open it then resave with a different name?

  • Thank you Paul,

I've already done that -in addition to many other things. But nothing works.
I've received help from another person that told me the error was caused by just one of the .pptx file's slide
So,  I deleted the slide, and that works.

    Thank you for your help.
