Can you provide some information to help us understand what was reported?  So things like a screenshot of the missing number in it's segment in the editor? What language you are translating into?  What rules you put in place to handle this if the number was not automatically recognised by virtue of windows also seeing this as a valid number?

I bet I could make it happen!  Ultimately everything comes down to knowing how to use the software appropriately.  All tools work in different ways, and all tools have their pros and cons.

Happy to read you (I was kidding about memoQ and I am sure you can make anything happen...)

I attach 2 examples : one of a missing number, the other one of a wrong number. It's a translation from English into French.

I have no specific rule, only "check numbers - error" ticked in QA Checker 3.0.

This Check numbers checkbox can be set in several places and some (such as the one in File > Options) won’t work here:

ok - I think I know what's going on.  The first thing is that you need to make sure that bp and bps and recognised as measurement units.  If you look at the defaults you will not find these units in there.  So I added them in here against the English (don't forget to reindex your TM after making these changes):

Then in your verification settings you need to have both these options set:

Now when I reproduce your errors I see this on confirming the segments:

Four errors, and they all look correct to me.  Try that and see what you think?

You should also raise an enhancement request to have "basis points" added to the list of recognised measurements by default.  Seems a good idea for financial translations.  Might be worth checking what else is missing and provide a comprehensive list.  I know when this was done the focus was on SI units, and this is obviously not as comprehensive as it could be for other forms of recognised units of measurement in specific sectors of business.

Good question... but I'm afraid only "bp" and "bps" will work as there is no mechanism in this feature for converting units into a localized version.  That's an area memoQ definitely have an advantage!

What you can do is use the RegexAutoSuggest provider to perform this manipulation ad at least solve the automatic placement of the units.  But then you'll have to deal with verification issues again as they'll throw an error all the time.

Until we add a feature out of the box for conversion so it's properly managed throughout Studio the best approach is probably to do what I suggested and be able to check for accuracy; search & replace the units for the ones you want after the verification; create a new custom verification rule to check that all the search & eplace operations worked correctly; then save your target file.

So a bit of a palava in your usecase I'm afraid, but at least you now know how to work with the units.

Thanks, Paul. If I already can check that bp is not missn,g in a unit, it will already help. I will make a request on the Trados Studio ideas for both English and Dutch, who also use bp) and hope it will work the next time I receive this kind of file as it is a recurrent job. I already checked "numbers" and 'measurements" for the QA

Sure... here's an example:

So it checks the source for this:

\d+bp\b

which means see if there is a number immediately followed by bp.  I added a boundary marker as you probably want to clearly identify bp and bps separately.

And check the target for this:

\d+pb\b

same thing but pb instead of bp.

And flag an error if you find this in the source but not in the target.
