Cannot login, cannot access the Appstore

Trados Plugin Installer window showing installed Trados Studio versions with Trados Studio 2021 selected and Trados Studio 2022 grayed out, indicating incompatibility.

From Studio 2021 and now Studio 2022, I cannot login.

A message says I have no internet access ("Cannot connect to the cloud"). NB Here I am not trying to use the Cloud-based translation service proper.

Deactivating the antivirus has no effect.

One of the effects is: I cannot access the AppStore to get the Deepl plugin (listing says empty).

Clicking on Go to the Appstore fails.

A suggestion in the Community site recommends to erase a .bin file after making sure hidden files are listed. I have no such file
(in C:\Users\jfd\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17).

If I go separately to the appstore  via a browser, and download the plugin in its compatible version (6.0.1.0), the installer sees my Studio 2021 but not my Studio 2022.

A message says I have no internet access ("Cannot connect to the cloud").

This has nothing to do with the appstore.

One of the effects is: I cannot access the AppStore to get the Deepl plugin (listing says empty).

    This...

Screenshot showing Trados Studio versions, with Trados Studio 2021 - 16.2.9.9198 highlighted.

... only shows you don't have a version of the app you are attempting to manually install that is supported on the version of Studio you have.  You seem to have 2021 - 16.2.9.9198.  The latest 2021 is Studio 2021 - 16.2.12.9338.  Perhaps you can tell us which app you are attempting to install and where you downloaded it from?  I downloaded the 2021 version for DeepL and it should install in your version of Studio, so maybe you downloaded a different one altogether?

A suggestion in the Community site recommends to erase a .bin file after making sure hidden files are listed. I have no such file
    (in C:\Users\jfd\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17).

If you don't have this then it would match what you show in that screenshot.  You do not seem to have 2022 installed at all.  For example, if I double click the 2021 installer for DeepL I see this:

Trados Plugin Installer window displaying a list of installed Trados Studio versions with checkboxes, Trados Studio 2021 - 16.2.9.9338 checked.

Are you sure you have actually installed 2022?

Maybe also check you have unhidden your hidden files/folders:

    www.howtogeek.com/.../

Then see if you can see that folder?

If I go separately to the appstore  via a browser, and download the plugin in its compatible version (6.0.1.0), the installer sees my Studio 2021 but not my Studio 2022.

    Same as above.

  • I do have Studio 2022. It runs.

    I rebooted twice.

You'd expect it to be recognized, by any relevant program or plugin.

It is listed among the programs as seen from the Control Panel.

Why is it not listed by te plugin installer?

  • NB I did not remove Studio 2021 so far.

I do have Studio 2022. It runs.

Then you absolutely should be able to see this folder:

    C:\Users\jfd\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17

It is impossible for this not to be there if you can run 2022.

Why is it not listed by te plugin installer?

I'll hazard a guess that you installed an old version of the plugin installer and this is running in preference to the one that is installed with 2022.  Guessing a bit, but you can see that my plugin installer application is from 2022 by the icon:

Screenshot of Trados Plugin Installer window with a red arrow pointing to the Trados Studio 2022 icon indicating the current version.

    Yours is an old one:

Image of Trados Plugin Installer window showing the header 'Installed Trados Studio versions' without any versions listed.

This could be part of the problem as an old one might not pick this up.

Why don't you use the integrated appstore in Trados Studio to find and install your plugins?  Here, from either the quick link at the top left of Trados Studio, or from the RWS AppStore link in the Welcome View:

Trados Studio interface showing the Welcome View with a red arrow pointing to the RWS AppStore link for installing plugins.

NB I did not remove Studio 2021 so far.

ok - has no relevance to this question.

  • Better so. I want to be able to work  with  S2021 until S2022 is fully functional including the plugin.

How can I check about the installation of S2022?
    Looking up the Registry?

  • The best sequence would be to do it all from inside Studio:
Sign in, access the Store, get the plugin

I cannot sign in, for some reason.
(I mentioned this pb to Installation Support in parallel).

In the way I described above I dowloaded the installer from the site, and applied it from outside the app.

  • I do have the installer for Deepl Pluging v 6.0.1.0.
And it does not recognize Studio 2022.

No, you do not.  You have the plugin for 2022 but the installer that is being called is the one for 2021 or even earlier... I cannot tell.  But it isn't 2022 and that is why 2022 is not shown when you double click the plugin.

Given you seem to be engaged with Technical Support already I suggest we let them solve this.  I think you probably need to reinstall or repair install 2022, and also learn how to see the hidden files and folders.  That will be especially useful since you could also try just copying the deepl plugin to this location and restart Studio 2022:

    c:\Users\jfd\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins\Packages\

When you restart Studio 2022 DeepL should be there.

  • Throwing all that in.

I know how to show hidden files.

Moved the Plugin installer to the said directory C:\Users\jfd\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins\Packages
    and ran it.
    Same result.

Repair says repaired OK, then says This program might not have been installed successfully. ???

Plus new error about access to a directory.
New Inbound Rule Wizard window with 'Allow the connection' option selected.Error message stating 'Access to the path C:UsersjfdAppDataRoamingTradosTrados Studio17pluginache.xml is denied.'Trados Studio notification window showing 'No internet connection' error and a product update available for download.Program Compatibility Assistant window suggesting 'Uninstall using recommended settings' for a program that might not have uninstalled correctly.

This screenshot seems to be helping us get there!!

Screenshot of New Inbound Rule Wizard with 'Allow the connection' option selected for Trados Studio.

If you are seeing this then I think the problem is likely to be related to Windows Defender blocking Trados Studio and it's associated applications from running freely.  Please make sure you have whitelisted Trados Studio.
