Problems with TM

When opening one of my MT, this message appears: the MT is damaged. I tried to install "SDLTM Repair" plugin, but it doesn't work. It seems that something is corrupted, but I cannot open it with any source. Does anybody know what happened and how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

Error message in Trados Studio stating 'The translation memory data is damaged' with a warning icon and a suggestion to repair the data using a translation memory repair application.

The message that appears in the plugin doesn't specify what happens...

So the plugin did install.  Then you used it, but it didn't help?  Can you share a screenshot of what you see after using it?

There's no way to open the translation memory, neither with the translation memories view. The same error appears (when creating a project and when trying to open the TM)

ok - in this case reset Studio.  To do this just close Trados Studio and then rename this folder:

    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\

    to c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16_old\

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

    www.howtogeek.com/.../

Then restart Trados Studio and see if that helped.

  • Thank you very much for your help, Paul! I am a bit desperated nou because nothing works and I need to recover that memory. See below my answer:

That's what the plugin shows after selecting the memory and click on "Repair". There's any information that might help because apparently it works.

Trados Studio plugin interface showing 'Integrity Check' and 'Repair' options with a message indicating repair completed.

This message appears when trying to create a new project after following your instructions, so it seems the problem persists.

Error message in Trados Studio stating 'Cannot open the translation memory ES_CA - copy.sdltm. The translation memory data file is damaged.' with an 'OK' button.

    Thank you again!

Can you open other TMs without any problems?
If yes, this means that the problem is with this specific TM, which seems to be damaged.

If the repair does not work, I suggest you recreate the TM and import your latest TMX export (+ SDLXLIFFs of what you translated after the export).

Thanks for that information.  The screen for the repair apps suggests that your TM is beyond repair.  You might see this if you run the integrity check... for example this was the result of one I saw before that displayed the same repair complete message but didn't actually fix anything:

Trados Studio screenshot showing an Integrity Check window with a message 'Integrity check started...' followed by an error '*** in database main *** Page 25039: btreeInitPage() returns error code 11' and a final message 'Integrity check completed.'

If this is the case then the only next option to try and recover the data, as far s I'm aware, is to try and extract the translation units as plain text out of the database table.  This "might" be possible if the TM isn't too badly damaged and the suggested process is here in this thread from a week or so ago:

     146958

Failing that, or even instead of that if you have the files, the solution from Walter is a good one.  But if you don't I think it's worth a try.
