Some zh-TW characters in the Target become ▢

Hi, Trados Engineers:
I have a question, some of the zh-TW characters in the Target (under Editor mode) become square like this after I reinstalled Trados 2019 Freelance on my new PC.
I followed the previous discussions to set "Formatting display sytle" as "Show all tags but do not show formatting", but that doesn't effectively solve the issue.
They still turn to square at times. I guess the root cause may be the wrong font adaptation (in File/ Options),
but whenever I changed the "custom language fonts" to zh-TW and click OK, it will be overridden by document-specific formatting.
Can anyone help me out with it? Pls, I'm desperate.

Trados Studio Options menu with 'Formatting display style' dropdown showing 'Show all tags but do not show formatting' selected.

I have MingLiU properly installed.

Font Adaptation settings in Trados Studio with 'ZH Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)' selected and 'MingLiU' font chosen.

When reopened, custom language fonts become the default again.

Font Adaptation settings in Trados Studio with 'Bislama' language selected and '(default)' font chosen.

By clicking Adpat Font Sizes at the upper right corner, it's useful at times, but not guaranteed.

could you clarify what that means by "scrolling to your language"?

    Sure... you showed this screenshot:

Trados Studio Custom Language Fonts settings window with 'Language' dropdown menu open showing 'Bislama' selected and a red arrow pointing to the dropdown menu.

When you set the font after "scrolling" through the list and selecting your language, and then close and reopen the settings it displays as you have shown.  In alphabetical order from the start.  The list contains all languages and the font setting for each language is contained within the appropriate language.  So if you "scroll" and select your language again you'll find that the setting you made has been applied.

This setting is a general setting so if you had four target languages you regularly worked with which one would you show in the display?  It only shows one, so you have to "scroll" and select each time you want to take a look at the settings for a particular language.

So is it possible to mail you instead? If so, could you provide the email address?

Yes... pfilkin at sdl dot com
