The most likely problem is that you are making the change to the wrong filetype, or to the filetype in a project template that you are not using when you create a project, or you are making this change after you have already created your project.

But if none of these apply then can you do the following:

1. take one slide from your ppt and save it with a new name
2. remove all the content apart from the notes
3. edit the notes so they don't contain anything you might not be able to share
4. attach this slide to your response so we can take a look.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I discovered what the problem was. Turns out that the "Notes" check box also needs to be selected for the respective file types in "Options" also.

This is not quite the correct understanding of your problem.  I think what this means is you simply made your change in the project settings for an existing project and this is too late.  If you want this option to take effect you have to do it before you create your project.  So if you are only working with the default project templates and don't create your own, then this is indeed under File -> Options.  So all new projects, for you, will always be using the settings in File -> Options.  This is the only place you need to make the change in your case.

HI Paul. I've been using Trados for years and never had to make any changes to settings in order to import notes. Anyway, the problem has been resolved. Thanks again.

I had the same issue, and this solution works for me as well. Changing settings from "File > Options > File Types" doesn't solve the issue even though you made the right settings before the project creation. You need to change the settings "Project Settings > File Types" as well.
