Draft translation has lost

I'm working on a large project and always click Save and Save as to make sure the translation has been saved correctly.
This morning after I restart the PC and reopen my project on Trados Studio 2022, I found the draft translation has been all lost.
Checked in the log file and cannot find any clue for why this happens.

How can I do with my project?

it quite a sensitve file I'm translating

    Irrelevant.

And I'm using a translation memory.

    Where is it stored?

But this morning, a message appeared to let me restart the system on the VM. After I saved the project and restart VM, all my draft translation lost, but Save as target contents has been saved into the Word file.

Still unclear.  If the target contents are now populated do you mean with the source texts, or with the translated content?  If the latter it makes no sense at all that you cannot see the translations.

Can you please confirm the following:

    1. How are you opening the Project?  Please describe the steps and the files used.

    2. What language pairs are in your project?  Please provide a screenshot like this from your project settings:
Screenshot of Trados Studio Project Settings showing Language Pairs with English (United States) as the Source Language and Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal) as the Target Languages.

  • Where is it stored?

It stored in VM local folder.

How are you opening the Project?  Please describe the steps and the files used.

Just find my project i stored one day before in Projects list and click to get into it. And click the file name in the right pane.

In target, the memory matched contents are exists, but the draft translations are lost.

What language pairs are in your project?  Please provide a screenshot like this from your project settings:

The language pair is English to Japanese.
Screenshot of Trados Studio Project Settings showing Language Pairs with Source Language set to English (United States) and Target Language set to Japanese (Japan).

Not supported and this could also be the source of your problem... but please answer the questions above first.

Only use VM as a local machine, and only run Trados on that machine.

ok - I'm stumped.  I do think this is related to you working in a VM, possibly some synching problem.  I don't really have any other ideas on what might have happened.

    My advice would be this:

    1. don't work in a VM
    2. make sure you use a Translation Memory and keep that somewhere safer than in a VM

If you are using a MAC perhaps and this is what you mean by using a VM through Parallels or something then worth double checking you didn't store the projects on the MAC part as opposed to Windows.
