"Access to the path 'C:\Users\..." is denied. How can I change the path/storage location?

Hello everyone,

After a notebook change, new installation of SDL, and a first attempt to save a translation, I receive this error message:
Error dialog box from Trados Studio with a red cross icon indicating 'Access to the path C:UsersUsernameOneDrive - CGMDokumenteStudio2021AutoSaveFile Name is denied.' with Knowledge Base and Community buttons and an OK button.

Where can I change the path/storage location?

Thank you for an easy to understand solution, I'm really not a computer expert. ;-)

Kind regards,
Cora

The easiest solution: switch off the auto save in Trados. File -> Options -> Editor.

Other solution is to deactivate synchronization of OneDrive.

Best solution: move the Documents folder to another location, preferably not on drive C:\
Open Windows Explorer, right click the Documents folder, select Preferences (in German: Eigenschaften) or press ALT+ENTER  and go to Path tab. Select "Move" (verschieben) and chose another location. This should solve the problem.

  • Hello Jerzy,

Thank you very much for your quick support.

I went with the easiest solution for now, which directly allowed me to batch my translation. However, when I re-open the translation in SDL, the same error message comes up again (although the checkbox "Autosave" is disabled).

    Any solution for this problem?

Also, I'd prefer the auto save on, but as I am using a company notebook, I am not allowed to deactivate the OneDrive synchronisation. Is there any way around?

    Once again, thank you!
