Does this happen with just that particular project, or with all projects you are trying to work on in Trados 2024?

If it's just that particular project then it may be something wrong with it, for example a corrupt file or TM or termbase. Does it also throw an error when closing and if yes, what error? Can you take a screenshot of it please?

Having Trados 2017 on the computer does not influence the projects you are working on currently in Trados 2024.

I've been trying Trados 2024 since yesterday and it is the first project with a shared memory. It closes without any error

What kind of TM is it? server-based? or what do you mean by shared memory?

Oh sorry yes server-based. The translation agency has given me the access credentials

And you are working on a project where you added the shared TM, or a Trados package which contains the shared TM?

One thing you can try, to see if it's the TM affecting the project, is to remove it and see if you can translate without it and if Trados still closes when you try that.

And then you can add it again and see if Trados still closes.

Thank you so I'll check with your suggestion. Now I've passed to Trados 2007 as that project is urgent but as soon as I finish I'll check and let you know

Sorry, now I remember that before I've deactivated that TM and that haven't solved the issue. That TM is enclosed in the package I received from the translation agency.

Perhaps also check if the TM has a red triangle - it may be created with a version older than Trados 2024 and might need to be ugpraded.

Can you open and work on the project and with that TM in Trados 2017?

Yes the TM doesn't create problems in Trados 2017 where I usually open these packages. This TM doesn't have any red triangle. I would like to pass to Trados 2024 as when I save the project as a Word file I cannot see the footnotes as well as it is a new and updated version.

Have you checked the TM in Trados 2024? If it's created in an older version, it will not have the triangle in 2017, but it will show in Trados 2024. 

I am not sure why you save the project as a Word file, there are many details missing here about the project itself to really identify the issue. 

And is it a package or a simple project?

Thank you Anca. I'll proceed also as you've suggested but here is a summary of the problem: Today I have installed the trial version of Trados Studio 2024. On my PC I also have Trados  Studio 2017 but I'm deciding to pass to 2024 version because when I translate a file for example and I have to read the final translated document to see the formatting etc. I save the document in Trados as a Word file and I cannot see everything in the created file (the footnotes or other things). So this morning I started my translation task in Trados 2024 but during the translation Trados closed automatically without any error message. I underline that I work with a package given by a translation agency where there are some TMs (even one server-based) and other translators work with Trados 2024. I tried to deactivate this TM but Trados closed again and for me it was impossibile to work.

You can always use the Preview file option to see formatting etc. 

And depending on how a project or a package is set - some content might not be extractable.

Also, it might not be that TM - it may be a different one if there are more, or perhaps they just need upgrading, since one needs to that for TMs created with older versions of Trados (what is below Trados 2021).
