Translated segments not appearing in TM exports

Hi everyone, I have been using Trados many years, in an agency then as an independent, and I have had the following problem since a few days: although the memory I use is checked to automatically update as I work and segments I translated appear as translated in Trados (Studio 2014 under Windows 7), they do not appear anywhere in the TM exports I make, which caused me to lose a job and which I cannot afford to say to my customers much longer. Anyone has any ideas as to how I can fix it, knowing that I deleted and reinstalled Studio completely and the problem remains?
Thank you, David.

  • Hi David

There are many possible causes to this. The first thing I suggest you check is whether your TM is actually updated. You can check this easily by confirming a segment and then going back to it. The timestamp in the TM results window should show the current time and date (for your main TM).
Are you working with a Project TM? If that is the case, be aware that confirming a segment only updates your Project TM, but not your main TM. In order to update your main TM, you would need to run the batch task "Finalise" or "Update main TM".

If your main TM is properly updated and you still do not see the segments in your exports, then the problem might be that you do a filtered export instead of exporting all entries.

And, BTW, why did this make you lose jobs? What do you need the TM exports for?

  • Hi Walter, thank you for your reply.

The thing is I work with a project TM for which I checked the field "update TM", and the segments do appear as translated in the results window when I go back to them. Also, I never used a filter to export, and "none" appears under "Filter:"...

Besides, I mainly work for translation agencies and those who do not send projects in packages need to receive an updated TM in case I am not available for the next project with the same final customer! :)
