Aligning documents: error message "the file contains "tw4winMark" style used to mark up bilingual documents" appears.

Hi,

I'm trying to align documents that were created/processed with Trados 2007 (Workbench/TagEditor).

Unfortunately the error message appears: "the file contains "tw4winMark" style used to mark up bilingual documents."

Many threads and posts recommend to change the project settings for file types to activate the Process files with tw4winMark style checkbox - which I did. The error message still occurs.

In each document there is only one language. When opened with Office 2016, the term "tw4winMark" does not appear in the documents, so I don't even know how to solve the problem manually.

Best,

Eeva

  • Hello Eeva,

Well, now that we know this was bilingual and not just a monolingual doc with the tw4winstyle left in there can you advise whether the bilingual doc contained source and target information?  So was it translated or just a copy of the source?  If it was translated then the easiest way is to open the file and just update it to a TM in Studio.  If it's not translated then cleaning it up is the way to go.

On the tw4winstyle in the document.  Normally this is a hidden style used for the markup and is why you can't see it unless you show the hidden content.  So if this was a Trados bilingual then it definitely does have the style... maybe you are not showing the full list?  Click on the little "dinky" in the ribbon style group to show the full list instead of the stuff in the ribbon:
