Exporting Excel - copy empty cell from source column to target column

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out this problem I'm having for quite some time now. What I want to do is simply make the source translation from row A and put target translation in row B but of course with the empty cells from A. I'm having this problem when I export the excel file.

Desired output:

Actual output:

Hope somebody could help me. I would gladly give details about my process.

Here is the file I wanted to translate:
Dialogue.xlsx

  • Hi,

Looking at your screenshot above it looks like you still have the blank rows hidden or filtered. Try displaying blank rows again.

Anyway, this workaround should not be necessary. I could not reproduce it either. The target file looks OK (with empty rows) without hiding or filtering before processing it in Studio. Just might have something to do with the Preserve Target Style checkbox, try checking or unchecking that. I used these settings for the Bilingual Excel file type and the generated file came out OK.

  • Hi Daniel,

Just wanted to say that there is really a problem here for Janelle. I can't reproduce this at all, even with her translations and a TM created from them. But on her machine when creating a project with this particular file she has this issue in Korean and German... probably other languages too.

Going to take a little more investigation which she'll do through a support case. In the meantime we used a workaround to remove the empty rows for translation and then put them back afterwards. So far it is only this one file and others in the same format seem to work ok.

    Really a strange one!

    Regards
