Customers regularly post ideas on our community portal to enhance the product. These ideas are very helpful in understanding how the product is used. They are inspiring us to make product even better by solving pain points.
Let us look at what the community has brought into the Tridion Docs 15.1 release.
Publication Manager and other desktop clients
Where Used in Browse repository and Search
Quite popular and highly voted idea: https://community.rws.com/ideas/tridion-ideas/i/tridion-docs-ideas/enable-a-right-click--where-used-menu-item-on-all-xml-objects
Previously users were able to view "Where used" information about an object of a publication opened in Publication Manager only. This information was not available when a user was browsing through the repository and search results to find a reuse source.
Starting from Tridion Docs 15.1 it is easiest for writers to see where an object is reused and/or linked directly in the Repository or search results. As well Where Used information provides a context of the importance of an object and an indication of the impact of making changes to an object.

There are also other ideas received from the community for desktop clients via different channels.
Set focus on newly created item in the Browse repository
Now when you are creating a novel item using the Browse repository after a list is refreshed Publication Manager will focus on the newly created item. This will give feedback that the item is created successfully and reduce the effort to find it in the list.
Focus on the created item
Sorting resources in Publication Manager
In Tridion Docs 15 resources were displayed in the order they were added to the Publication.
Publication Manager in Tridion Docs 15.1 displays resources that were added alphabetically. This UX change improves the findability of Publication resources.

Select Output Format dialog
The thumbnail view had issues with long names for Output Formats especially when you have similar output types like PDF. To find the right one user used tooltips. This process can take time and effort.
In Tridion Docs 15.1 we introduce a list view for Output Formats dialog where the user will be able to see a full name.

Condition Builder: finding conditions
Conditions are quite a powerful feature in Tridion Docs. Customers have a large set of them. Finding the right condition or value in such cases can be challenging.
Tridion Docs 15.1 Condition Builder gives an option to the user to filter a list of conditions either by condition name or value. Filtering by condition value highlights the count of matching values inside the condition name (see right part of the picture below). Filtering options will reduce the effort in finding the required conditions for the current context.

Extensibility in the product
There were a couple of business cases where customers would like to restrict delete action according to their business needs.
To name a few:
- If an item is published to Dynamic Delivery, hence, it is live on a portal – block a deletion
- A couple of Undelete requests where the user either deleted an object that is not referenced anywhere or by mistake deleted the source language of the object
With the new IDelete plugins mechanism customers can adjust their implementation by adding their extra rulesets for delete action if they need.
Starting from Tridion Docs 15.1 IDelete plugins are supported on Content Objects (Document objects like topics, maps, libraries, images, and others), Publication Outputs, Publications and Publication versions, and Baselines.

Organize Space
Display version for language object in Used by list
A good usability improvement that will differentiate languages for the object that is being used.
Displaying version per language object
Add possibility to preview in Draft or Review Space
We added an in-context preview capability to open objects in Draft or Review Space that will enhance the Where Used functionality in Organize Space.
Now in case a writer is using the Where Used functionality for an object that is used in multiple publications, there are options to open the contents of the publication in Review or Draft Spaces in a different tab. This improves usability and the writer could see more details about that publication quickly.
