In TBM, you can automatically or manually convert units when creating assignments. Tasks in source translation job always have some specified unit, but there could be a case when it is required to use different unit for your vendor. From the other side, assigned quantity tracking mechanism requires to assign tasks in the same unit as the one used in a source job task. To handle this, there are the following columns in the assignment task: Quantity initial, Unit initial, Quantity and Unit. Quantity initial represents quantity assigned from the source job tasks. Initial unit is read-only field which just displays unit used in a source task. Quantity and Unit columns by default have same values, but you can change it, by converting source quantity to some other unit.
When you select Vendor value in an assignment, then if that vendor has Automatic unit conversion settings specified in their profile, TBM will automatically convert source quantity into target unit according to that settings. Otherwise, you can do it manually, by selecting necessary rows and clicking Convert units button, followed by selection of one of target units. Application will then attempt to convert source quantity into target unit based on adjustment factors provided for a selected unit. After conversion, corresponding price will be picked-up from vendor's price-list.
After conversion, new units will be used and displayed in generated purchase orders.
