A connection to SDL MultiTerm Server unknown could not be established. Please check your connection settings

This is the error message I get when I try to open my own termbase in MultiTerm 2017. It is not connected to any server, so I do not know what the "connection settings" would be referring to.

I have tried to repair and uninstall/reinstall the software in addition to other suggestions made here, but to no avail. Latest attempt was to use SDL Freshstart. When I try to create a new termbase, I get the error message Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Is there any to be had? Thank you!

As Paul is offline, thought I'd try and help.

I'm guessing that you've been taken to the new Window 10 equivalent of Control Panel, which does not (always?) have a repair feature.

If you type 'Control Panel' in the 'Type here to search' line bottom left next to your Windows start symbol as below:

Windows 10 search bar with 'Control Panel' typed in and the Control Panel desktop app highlighted in the search results.

Then click on 'Control Panel' as above. Then the 'old' Control Panel pane should appear, where you need to click 'Programs and Features'. You may also need to click on 'Small Icons' first:

Control Panel window with 'Programs and Features' highlighted in yellow under the 'Adjust your computer's settings' section.

The following screen should then appear:

Programs and Features window with a list of installed programs, 'SDL MultiTerm 2017 SP2 Desktop' is highlighted in yellow with a 'Repair' option visible.

Highlight the 'Desktop' entry and click 'Repair' as I have highlighted (or you can choose repair by right-clicking the entry and selecting Repair from the dropdown menu that appears).

I also repeat this with the other entries but that's probably not necessary and there is certainly NO need to do it to the 'Remove suite of products...' entry as that is only the entry used for uninstalling the 4 MultiTerm 'components' you see here, also the best way to uninstall.

I hope this explanation works for you!

    All the best,

    Alison Slight smile
