Trados Multiterm 2021 - non-recognition of terms

Hi,

I need urgent support to try to understand why Trados Multiterm 2021 is not recognising a term present in translated file.

I received a complaint from our customer and need to explain how it happened.

I ran the QA check and I received no warning messages.

The situation is as follows, the TB contains

Italian > torretta

English > tool head

but also

Italian > montaggio

English > mounting

and

Italian > smontaggio

English > demounting

The sentences are:

1) La torretta di montaggio/smontaggio presenta una forte usura dal lato del smontaggio

Here the TB recognition detected "smontaggio" but not "montaggio" nor "torretta"

2) La torretta di montaggio/smontaggio presenta usura dal lato dello smontaggio

Again, here the TB recognition detected "smontaggio" but not "montaggio" nor "torretta"

3) Sostituita torretta montaggio/smontaggio perché molto usurata

Here the TB recognition detected all terms that is "smontaggio", "montaggio" and "torretta"

I need to understand why this happens in order to avoid this error in the future.

I did a test inserting a new entry in the TB: "torretta di montaggio/smontaggio"

With this new entry the QA check is working properly.

Can you please help me?

Thanks

Silvia

I tested with these results... all with default settings everywhere:

Here the TB recognition detected "smontaggio" but not "montaggio" nor "torretta"

    Not for me:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing Term Recognition panel with 'torretta', 'montaggio', and 'smontaggio' listed but only 'smontaggio' highlighted in the text.

Again, here the TB recognition detected "smontaggio" but not "montaggio" nor "torretta"

    Also not for me:

Screenshot of Trados Studio with Term Recognition panel, highlighting 'smontaggio' in the text but missing 'montaggio' and 'torretta'.

Here the TB recognition detected all terms that is "smontaggio", "montaggio" and "torretta"

    Same for me:

Screenshot of Trados Studio where Term Recognition panel correctly highlights 'smontaggio', 'montaggio', and 'torretta' in the text.

Perhaps the best place to start is to reorganise your termbase.

Screenshot of Trados Studio's Termbase Management interface with a red arrow pointing to the 'Reorganize' button.

    See if this helps first.

  • Dear

Thanks for your feedback, I followed your instruction and "reorganize" the TB but nothing changed.

Some more info: I have 3 entries with "torretta"

    1) "torretta" with the translatin into English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish

Trados Studio term base entry for 'torretta' in Italian with translations in English (tool head), French (t te op rante), German (Montagekopf), Portuguese (torre), and Spanish (torreta).

    2) "torretta di smontaggio" with only German translation

Trados Studio term base entry for 'torretta di montaggio' in Italian with a German translation (Montagekopf) and an option to add more translations.

    3) "torretta di smontaggio" with only German translation

Trados Studio term base entry for 'torretta di smontaggio' in Italian with a German translation (Demontagekopf) and an option to add more translations.

Then I decided to add other entries it-IT>en-GB, such as:

    torretta di montaggio/smontaggio = mounting/demounting tool head

torretta montaggio/smontaggio (without "di" because we found both possibilities in the documents we translated) = mounting/demounting tool head

    Now the TB works properly.

Could it be that the entry "torretta di montaggio" together with "torretta" (alone)  and also "montaggio" (alone) generated the error?

    Thanks

    Silvia
